I’m Grieving for America

I am deeply disappointed with the Supreme Court’s decision about the Defense of Marriage Act. The Supreme Court invalidated a part of the law defining marriage as the union of a man and a woman. Their decision is a setback for our country. The court has wronged a right and our country is worse off for it. Discrimination against us who believe Jesus’ definition of marriage has been enshrined in law.

The Bible says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” Isaiah 5:20

I wonder if we’ll be bullied by those intolerant of Jesus’ definition of marriage. Will those who mistreat us for not respecting their “marriage” be charged with hate crimes? Perhaps. More than likely we’ll just be boycotted, shunned and ignored–marginalized by their stereotypical rhetoric. In any case, a fiery furnace awaits us.

Nevertheless, when the media blows its horn and flute of one sided-reporting, and the pressure groups strum their lyres and harps of redefined “equality”, I will not bow down to the golden image the government has erected for us to worship.

Instead, I will keep proclaiming the Word of the Lord that the prophet Jeremiah heard:
“‘Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them,’ says the LORD.

This is what the LORD says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.

But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ I appointed watchman over you and said, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’

But you said, ‘We will not listen.’

Therefore hear, O nations; observe O witnesses, what will happen to them. Hear O earth: I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their schemes, because they have not listened to my words and have rejected my law.’” Jeremiah 6:15-19

If that is how the Sovereign God of the nations dealt with His Chosen People, how much more severely will He deal with our nation? Look at what God did to the Babylonians and prepare yourself to be the salt and light that our dark and decaying nation so desperately needs now. Through our courage and faith, let us be helping out a whole lot of people.

For His glory,
Pastor Mike
